Journal of Dental Implant Research (JDIR) is official publication of the Korean Academy of Implant Dentistry(KAID) which was established at 1976. Journal of Dental Implant Research (JDIR) is a multidisciplinary peer-reviewed and open-access journal providing up-to-date information relevant to dental implantology and related research. JDIR publishes research articles, reviews and case reports related to basic or clinical dental implant related science. JDIR is dedicated to increasing the depth of the subject across disciplines with the ultimate aim of expanding knowledge of the subject.

Call for Papers
The journal welcomes the submission of manuscripts that meet the general criteria of significance and scientific excellence, and will publish:
• Original basic and clinical research articles
• Clinical observations
• Case reports
• Critical reviews
• Technical notes
• Surveys, opinions, commentaries and letters to the editor

We invite you to submit your manuscript(s) to editkaid@kaidimplant.or.kr for publication. Our objective is to inform authors of the decision on their manuscript(s) within four weeks of submission. Following acceptance, a paper will normally be published in the next issue.

대한치과이식(임프란트)학회지의 도약

  대한치과이식(임프란트)학회지는 1976년에 우리나라 최초의 임프란트 전문학회지로 창간되어 올해로 30권을 발간한 대한민국임프란트의 역사와 함께 해온 대한민국 대표 임프란트 학회지라고 할 수 있다.  회원수로도 대한치의학회에서 3번째로 큰 학회인 본학회의 역할이 대한민국의 임프란트의 임상과 연구를 선도하고 학문적 발전에 기여하는 것은 당연한 일이라고 할 수 있다. 하지만 최근 임프란트가 개원가에서의 과도한 경쟁으로 인한 시술비용의 하락과 일부의 무리한 시술 등으로 인해 사회적 관심과 치과계의 내부적 갈등의 요인이 되고 있는 것이 사실이다. 우리나라의 임프란트의 수준은 치과의사들의 노력과 이와 관련된 국내 임프란트 산업의 발전으로 인해 세계적으로도 앞서가고 있음은 국내외의 전문가들이 인정하고 있는 바이다. 이러한 시점에서 임프란트의 학문적 발전은  국내적 문제점을 극복하고 세계로 눈을 돌리는데 필수적이라고 할 수 있다. 그리고 그 중심에 훌륭한 학회지가 있어야 할 것이다. 대한치과이식(임프란트)학회지는 지난 이사회를 통해 대한 치과이식(임프란트)학회지의 영문이름을 기존의 The Journal of Korean Academy of Implant Dentistry에서 Journal of Dental Implant Research 로 이름을 바꾸고 학회지의 국제적인 표준에 맞추어 탈바꿈하려고 하고 있다. 현재 임프란트 관련 영문학회지는 대표적으로 알려져 있는 International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implantology(IJOMI), Clinical Oral Implant Research(COIR)이외에 의이로 많은 학술지가 있다. 대부분이 최근에 재편되거나 새로 출발하는 학술지이다. 특히 인도 등 국가의 지역학회지가 국제학술지를 표방하는 경우도 있어, 임프란트의 학술적 임상적 선도 그룹에 있는 국내 학술지의 국제화의 필요성도 증가하였다고 할 수 있다.   

  물론 저명한 학회지가 되기 위해서는 논문의 질적 향상이 기본이다. 학술적 가치를 가지고 독자들에게 도움이 되는 논문과 글이 많이 실려야만 한다. 이는 하루아침에 이루어지는 것이 아니며 긴 시간동안 꾸준히 쌓여야 하는 작업이다. 현재 세계적으로도 관심을 끌만한 임프란트 관련 논문과 주제가 별로 없다는 것은 임프란트 전문가라면 모두 동감하고 있다. 이는 좋은 논문을 실어야 하는 학회지로서는 내용을 확보하기가 힘든 상황이 되고 있다고 할 수 있다.  11개 치과대학과 5개의 임상치의학 대학원, 의과대학병원의 치과학 교실의 수 등을 고려한다면 국내에서만 투고되는 원저만으로 학회지를 구성하기는 힘들다고 판단된다. 이에 국제적으로 임프란트학을 선도하기 위해 해외 논문의 유치와 국제학술지로서의 발돋움이 필요하다고 할 수 있다. 이는 해외와 학술교류를 주도하고, 국내의 연구성과를 해외에 알리는 일이 될 수 있다. 해외 유명학술지에 논문을 싣는 것도 중요하지만 국제적인 학술지를 우리가 가지고 있는 것 또한 중요한 의미라는 생각이 든다. 진정한 학술지가 되기 위해서는 영문 학술지가 되어야 하지만, 학술적인 교류와 국내 독자들의 중요성을 고려하여 영문과 한글 모두를 사용한 국제 학술지를 구성하는 것이 나을 것이라고 생각된다. 

또한 연구 논문 뿐 아니라 임상적으로 유용한 종설(review article), technical note등도 임상 학술지로서 중요한 부분으로 생각된다. 표에서 나타난 것 처럼 편집위원회를 중심으로 2012년 31권 1호부터 독자를 위한 학회지로 구성될 수 있도록 모든 사람의 노력이 필요할 것이다.

Journal of Dental Implant Research

Aims and Scope
Journal of Dental Implant Research is the official peer-reviewed, quarterly publication of the Korean Academy of Implant Dentistry (KAID). The Journal publishes original research papers, clinical observations, review articles, viewpoints, commentaries, technical note, case reports, and letters to the editor in subjects relating to clinical practice and related basic research on dental implant including other reconstructive procedures for maxillofacial areas. Eventually, the journal aims to contribute to academic advancement of dentistry and improvement of public oral and general health.

Background
Journal of Dental Implant Research was renamed from the Journal of the Korean Academy of Implant Dentistry (KAID), which was first published in 1976. It was initially published once a year but became a biannual journal from 2005. The KAID is the official member of the Korean Academy of Dental Science.

JDIR is not for sale. Full text PDF files are also available at the official website. Journal of Dental Implant Research is an open access article distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial License (http://creatviecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/3.0) which permits unrestricted non-commercial use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited.
